Schedule of Earth Week 2013 Events
|Thursday, April 18th - Thursday, April 25th||Environmental Art Show, Heritage Room Weinberg Memorial Library, featuring art and photography concerning environmental themes submitted by University students, faculty and staff. The exhibit will be on display during library hours.
|Sunday, April 21st
||"A Celebration of our Beutiful Local Environment" 5K Walk/Run at the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Free of Charge. Prizes!! 7:30am Registration-8am Race Start. Open to the Public. Registration Form.
|Monday, April 22nd
Environmental Art Show Open Reception, Heritage Room, Weinberg Memorial Library, 5-7pm. The reception will give students, faculty and the local community the opportunity to talk with the artists and admire their work. There will be refreshments served. Free Admission.
Dr. Seuss' environmental film, "The Lorax" will be shown for the University community at 7-9pm in Loyola Science Center 133. A brief discussion before the presentation. Free refreshments.
Thursday, April 25th
Earth Day Fair, DeNaples Patio, 10am-1pm. Area businesses and University of Scranton students will provide interactive presentations and information related to the environment and sustainable practices. The Fair is free of charge and open to the public. Please fill out participation form if you wish to have a booth at the Fair. Participation form-business. Participation form-student.
The University partnered with Pennsylvania American Water in support of their "Protect our Watershed Art Contest" for students in grades 4-6 and for an essay exhibition for students in grades 7-12. We will host a public reception to showcase the essays and art work. The reception begins at 6pm in the DeNaples Center 4th Floor lobby. Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" will be shown at 7pm in the Moskovitz Theater-DeNaples Center 4th floor. A ceremony for essay and art contest participants will immediately follow the film. |Saturday, April 27th - Sunday, April 28th
||Earth Week events will conclude with the Weinberg Memorial Library's annual book sale Saturday from 9am-9pm and Sunday from12pm-4pm, in the Heritage Room. A variety of hardcover fiction, non-fiction, paperback books, how-to-books, children's books, videos, cookbooks, and other items will be sold. Prices begin at $1. Proceeds benefit of The Friends of The Weinberg Memorial Library Endowment, which supports library collections and services.|
