Fall 2013 Housing Lottery

Email to Students Regarding Housing Lottery Information and Process (Fall 2013)

Dear students:

The Office of Residence Life is preparing for the Housing Lottery. The Housing Lottery is the online process used by Residence Life to enable current resident students to select housing for the next academic year.  The below information is an overview of the lottery process.  Please see lottery information sessions times and plan to attend one for more detailed information.

It is very important to note that current and eligable sophomores, juniors, and seniors must have paid a $200.00 non-refundable housing deposit by 4:00pm on January 11, 2013 in order to be included in the Pool A Lottery. This deposit will be applied to student accounts in July of 2013, Students who paid the deposit after the deadline will have limited available housing options.

Current resident freshmen, who currently live on campus, are required to reside on campus as sophomores and therefore do not have to pay a housing deposit.  Current Residential freshmen will automatically be placed in the sophomore lottery.

Students who have returned from Study Abroad and who have not previously lived off campus, as well as new transfer students have until February 28th 2013 by 4pm to pay their $200 non-refundable housing deposit to be included in the Pool A Lottery.

Deposit Verification:

Students are responsible to check that their deposit has been received and they have been placed in the appropriate pool.  To verify your deposit and pool, please do the following:

Please keep in mind that The University of Scranton guarantees on campus housing for four consecutive years.  Consequently, if a student has never lived off campus, he or she retains that guarantee.  If a student has moved off campus, he or she has lost the guarantee and can only be housed on a space available basis during a secondary phase of the housing lottery.

Students who do not participate in the housing lottery but wish to live on campus must notify the Residence Life office of their intent and pay their housing deposit by May 1, 2012.  Those students will be assigned housing on a space available basis.
