Mission of the SAS Club

FUTURE ACCOUNTANTS

The Society of Accounting Students, "SAS", is a student organization formally recognized by the University of Scranton.  Founded in the early 1980's, SAS encourages University of Scranton students from any major to become a SAS member.  Through membership, students learn about the Accounting profession through speakers, socials and occasional trips. The official description of SAS as in our charter is as follows:

"The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the study of accountancy; to encourage cordial interaction among its members, accounting faculty, and professional men and women; and to develop high ethical, scholastic,
and professional aspirations in its members. The process of attaining these goals shall be in keeping with the Jesuit Tradition and the Mission Statement of the University of Scranton."

SAS offers many opportunities. Current members are encouraged to volunteer in the Accounting Lab and to attend all SAS functions. Leadership opportunities include running on a ticket for SAS office. Tickets consist of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Established professionals, alumni, employers, and professors are warmly welcomed to participate in SAS functions. Former SAS members are welcomed to stay in contact with SAS and help SAS grow.

For members and potential business and accounting students, we hope you can learn more about the profession and give you some areas that you would like to discover and pursue when you build your career. Also we hope you can "pencil in" the upcoming SAS events on your calendar, so you can attend.

For those out in the business world, we hope this site would keep you updated on SAS happenings and see how SAS members are getting a first hand look at the opportunities that an accounting background could help open the door to.

Finally, we hope you can be part of SAS. If you are interested in using an upcoming SAS meeting as a forum to share your career or accounting profession, please inform SAS of career opportunities by contacting the officers. If you are interested in being interviewed and posted on this website, also contact SAS officers. Officer email addresses are listed in the "Present & Past Officers" section of this website. Thank you for browsing our pages.
