Accepted Student Portal
A subset of the University’s enterprise portal, the accepted student portal allows students who have been accepted by the University of Scranton the opportunity to “log in” and get valuable information about Admissions, Academics, Financial Aid and Student Life.

Housing Lottery
The University of Scranton provides an online housing lottery system each year to its resident students. The lottery provides a fair means for students to reserve housing for the upcoming year. Specific questions about the housing lottery should be directed to Residence Life at 570.941.6226.

Laundry View
LaundryView is an Internet application that allows students to monitor the status of washers and dryers in connected laundry rooms through a Web browser. LaundryView was developed in response to requests for greater control over laundry activities. Since many people tend to do their laundry during similar time periods, it results in busy laundry rooms. LaundryView's mission is to help you save time by providing information about the current state of laundry room equipment wherever you have access to a browser or e-mail messages. U-TRAVEL
U-Travel is an online ride board for students to post and query for ride opportunities to destinations of their choice. It is accessible via the my.Scranton.edu student portal.

Video Gaming
Intended for "client-less", wired devices, the University of Scranton supports video gaming on the following devices: - Xbox/Xbox360 - Wii (wired connection only) - Playstations 2 & 3 - Gamecube - TiVo
Currently the system only supports the registration of wired devices and does not support wireless connectivity to game consoles. The University of Scranton will provide support for device access to the network but is unable to provide support for device (gameplay, device updates, etc.). Business Continuity
Business Continuity Planning does not just involve the recovery of technology. It focuses on maintaining and recovering the business. In fall, 2006 a Business Continuity Taskforce (BCT) was formed on campus. It is co-chaired by the Vice-President for Planning and CIO, and the Vice-President for Finance. The BCT is providing valuable input into the business continuity planning effort. The University maintains a business continuity site for its major servers and applications such as Banner, e-mail, Angel Learning Management System, and Royal Drive electronic document management system.

Digital Signage
The University of Scranton provides digital signs in a number of key locations around campus. In addition to news and global information, the displays provide information regarding current campus events, activities, and announcements. Student clubs and our sporting teams also contribute to the information displayed.

Emergency Notification System
The University subscribes to Connect-ED by Blackboard Connect, Inc., which can securely and efficiently deliver messages via phone, e-mail and SMS text. Students, faculty and staff can register up to three telephone numbers to receive voice and text messages, and up to two personal (i.e. non-University) email accounts. The system is used for time-sensitive notifications about emergencies, school closings or delays.

Internet2
In 2005, The University of Scranton was named a regional aggregation point for MAGPI at University of Pennsylvania, which provides connectivity to the nation's high-speed research and education network, Internet2. Through MAGPI, The University is providing Internet2 connections for colleges and universities, primary and secondary schools, libraries, hospitals, museums and research corporations in Northeastern PA. The Internet2 community is actively engaged in developing and deploying emerging network technologies beyond the scope of single institutions and critical to the future of the Internet. Laptop Support Services
The Laptop Support Center located in Hyland Hall provides service to University students, faculty, and staff. We provide support for laptop computers purchased from Dell through our laptop program with a 4 year warranty. Services include hardware and battery warranty repairs, software problems, spyware/adware and virus removal, resolve wireless and connectivity problems.

Network Infrastructure
The University’s network is connected to the Internet via an OC-3 optical circuit provided by Level 3 Communications operating at 155Mbps. Commodity Internet services are also made available via our connection to MAGPI/Internet2.

SunGard Banner Enterprise System
The Banner system is the main University of Scranton enterprise software system. The system supports all major functions on campus including: Alumni and Development, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Student (Registrar, Advising), Human Resources, Recruitment and Admissions, Financial Aid, Banner Self-Service applications, Web-based Student Support for Faculty and Advisors, and many auxiliary systems. The University utilizes an Oracle database to provide a repository for corporate and academic data, with an emphasis on integrity and standardization.

Supported Desktop Software
Information Technology Services supports University owned computers for faculty and staff. Currently our standard software consists of Windows XP, Office 2007 Professional, Thunderbird, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Oracle Calendar, Xythos Drive, Adobe Reader, PuTTy, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, McAfee Enterprise, Core FTP Lite, and CutePDF. Some exceptions may apply based on special circumstances / instructional needs.

University Portal
my.Scranton.edu, the University of Scranton online portal for students, faculty and staff, is our one-stop source for University services and information. Students (both campus and online) can use the portal for class registration, financial aid, paying tuition, accessing our Learning Management System, grades, calendars, announcements, and much more! Wireless Internet Access
The Information Resources Division maintains wireless network services based on the IEEE 802.11b/g/n network standards. The wireless network provides a means of accessing Web-based University instructional and informational resources and the Internet without connecting to a wired port using an Ethernet cable. You must have a Wi-Fi compliant 802.11b/g wireless network adapter in addition to meeting other ResNet requirements to access the Wireless Network.
