Information Technology Services

As the name implies, Desktop & Instructional Resources (DIR) has two main focuses. Desktop Resources, located in Alumni Memorial Hall, includes support for all microcomputer desktops on campus. Instructional Resources provides support for the integration of technology into the curriculum through the Office of Instructional Technology (Alumni Memorial Hall).

Desktop services available include support for microcomputer hardware and software, the setup and ongoing support of Microcomputer Labs, and the installation and support of end user desktop tools. DIR centrally coordinates the acquisition, installation and support of all desktop equipment on campus. Hardware configuration, software installation, and data migration of information from old to new systems are part of the services offered.

Hardware maintenance and repair are provided by the Computer Maintenance Center (a subdivision of DIR).

DIR also provides connectivity to local area networks, the campus network and will assist you with Internet access through the installation of various desktop tools. Local Area Network selection, implementation, management, training and on-going support are also offered from DIR.

The Office of Instructional Technologies (OIT), a subdivision of DIR, provides support to faculty, staff, and students on a variety of technologies. OIT has a variety of equipment (laptops, video projectors, visualizers, camcorders, etc.) for special events or classroom usage, however providing the technology is only a part of the services. OIT also provides hands on support to faculty.

OIT is responsible for providing support for the Distance Learning on campus utilizing the on campus Video Teleconferencing facilities. Support for Blackboard, a web based course tool, is also provided through OIT.
