Laptop Support Services

Technnology Support Center

Students in need of help with the following Laptop issues should contact the TSC:

  • Resolution of ResNet connection issues
  • Virus, Spyware or Adware removal
  • Configuration of Wireless internet connection
  • Software related problems
The TSC does NOT provide Hardware or Operating System support.

The TSC can be reached by calling 941-HELP (4357).  If your problem can't be resolved over the phone, you can setup an appointment to bring your laptop to the TSC in Alumni Memorial Hall.  Appointments are required.

The TSC is located on the first floor of Alumni Memorial Hall.  Hours of operation are:

  • Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 10:00pm
  • Friday 8:00am - 9:00pm
  • Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Sunday Noon - 8:00pm

Students MUST remain with their laptop while service is being performed.  Please note that laptops cannot be left and picked up later.

 

Laptop Hardware Services

Hardware warranty repairs are available at the TSC in Alumni Memorial Hall. Hours are Monday through Friday 10am - 4:30pm.  Support offered includes warranty repairs for students who purchased a Dell or Mac laptop with a valid warranty. The University of Scranton is an Authorized Dell and Apple Warranty Repair Center.

Students who purchased one of the specially configured Dell Scranton Laptops get:

  • Expedited and complete tech support
  • On-site parts for quick turnaround times
  • Loaner laptops for repairs that take more than 24 hours
  • Scranton image to restore your machine to its original state
  • Certified technicians to handle all warranty with manufacturer

Students with a can expect:

  • Apple certified technicians who can initiate warranty support

Contact the TSC at 941-HELP for Dell or Apple software problems or warranty hardware repairs.

We make every reasonable effort to resolve your computer problem but cannot guarantee that we will be able to successfully get your computer connected to our network or to fix every problem.  The University of Scranton is not responsible for any loss of personal data or software not originally installed on the computer which may occur during the repair process.  Certain repairs including, but not limited to, virus and spyware removal may damage software and/or data installed on your computer.  IT Services technicians will take every precaution to prevent any loss of data but if such data were to be lost, the IT Services technicians will not be held responsible for any data loss.

Students are responsible for backing up all their data and files BEFORE bringing it to the TSC for service.

NOTE:  In most cases it is necessary to have the original computer CD's that came with your computer in order to fix a problem.  Make certain you bring everything that came with your computer to campus with you.  We cannot provide support for illegal copies of Windows or other software.
