Computer Training Classes Available
Computer training in a selection of software titles, commonly used by staff and faculty on campus, is now available. All training is offered by IT Services. Training sessions usually run 50 minutes per class. In most cases, 3 sessions per title are needed to complete the material. All training is done in the IT Services Training Lab in Hyland Hall, room #402. Course Content: (All classes are designed to address common university use of the software. Each session is customized for the needs of the attendees present.)
WORD (level 1): includes learning the Ribbon; Line spacing and Document setup; File options to customize your documents; Formatting and Font use; Using Tabs, Bullets and Numbering; Footnotes and Endnotes.

WORD (level 2): Advanced Formatting; Headers/Footers and PageNumbers; Sections, Page Breaks and Columns; Using Tables; Inserting Graphics;Text Boxes; Charts; Themes and Styles; and Mail Merge.

Identity Finder: Campus-wide security program that searches our individual computer for PII (Personally Identifiable Information) and other sensitive information; Manage suspect files; Working with Reports; Securing Data; and Scheduling scans.

Using Windows 7: As Windows 7 is now being deployed to university computers throughout campus, this class highlights differences between Windows7 and Windows XP. Features, Improvements, Shortcuts, and efficiencies will allow for easier and quicker workflow.

Basic Computer Use: For those staff who are new to computers, or who need a refresher, this class will address all the basics of common computer use, as needed on campus. Featured will be how to use my.scranton.edu, to access personal information such as pay info, leave balances, create files and folders, learn about email, and much more.

SANS Security Awareness: A program for staff, consisting of a few short videos to help illustrate the many dangers we face using our computers, especially on-line. Learn howto help prevent identity theft, theft of university and personal information,computer virus infections and other malicious threats.

Photoshop CS5 and Dreamweaver CS5: For those personnel needing these programs to enhance their websites, learn basic CSS, and HTML, image manipulation and enhancement, quality issues, and advanced image editing techniques.
