University Planning Committee

The University Planning Committee (UPC) is an advisory committee to the Vice President for Planning & Chief Information Officer. The UPC assists in the preparation of the University's five-year strategic plan, and monitors its implementation and progress. The UPC offers input to the University-wide strategic planning process, including the integration of the annual and tactical planning, institutional effectiveness, and budgeting processes.

Information Management Advisory Committee

The Information Management Advisory Committee is charged with guiding the development and maintenance of policies and programs designed to establish standards for information management and to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University’s information assets. Members will serve as data stewards for the area they represent. In this role, the group will:

• Guide the development of policies that preserve the security and privacy of data.
• Establish standards for data quality and consistent reporting, and monitor associated measures.
• Review and advise the records management program.
• Help to establish an environment where the University’s information assets can be used to improve operational efficiencies and enable business insight.

Information Resources Advisory Committee

The Information Resources Advisory Committee (IRAC) is advisory to the Vice President for Planning and Chief Information Officer (CIO). In this capacity, the IRAC reviews and advises on major technology initiatives, policies, and plans. The committee devotes special attention to monitoring and reviewing the Information Resources Tactical plan, the Microcomputer Replacement Program, the Instructional Technology Renewal Plan, and the Enterprise Server Replacement Plan. The Committee will monitor and discuss broad technology issues, making recommendations for future direction and response to environmental and competitive pressures. The IRAC will review technology benchmarking data. The IRAC will also from time to time create taskforces to work on focused projects and review the work of these taskforces.

Computer Security Incident Response Team

The CSIRT is a group comprised of technology and functional specialists from the Planning and Information Resources (PIR) Division charged with the prevention, identification, analysis, containment, and eradication of computer/network security incidents. Security incidents are events that could adversely affect University of Scranton computer or network resources and/or cause loss of or damage to electronic information resources.

Data and Technology Coordinators Group

The Data and Technology Coordinators Group facilitates information exchange among those within The University of Scranton community who provide technical support, service, or IT direction. The group’s objectives are closely aligned with the goals of the Planning & Information Resources division, primarily to achieve high-quality information technology customer support across the University. Formerly known as Banner User Coordinators, the group has been expanded to include others at the University who have a job-related focus on computing and information technology.
