Cadets Sean Cogan (left) and Kevin Demko were selected for two highly competitive summer internship programs offered by the Unites States Army and U.S. Army Cadet Command.

Congratulations to cadets Kevin Demko and Sean Cogan on their recent selections to participate in summer internship programs offered by the Unites States Army and U.S. Army Cadet Command. Both are juniors at The University of Scranton and are currently completing their third year in the Military Science Program.

Military Science Level III Cadet Sean Cogan was selected by U.S. Army Cadet Command to participate in a 30-day cultural understanding and language program staring in May. Cadet Cogan will travel to Spain where he and 24 other Cadets from across the country will have the opportunity to train with and learn from soldiers and officers assigned to a Spanish airborne brigade. Last summer Cadet Cogan trained at Fort Benning, Ga., for several weeks with students from Columbia’s military academy. Sean is majoring in international studies.

Cadet Kevin Demko will participate in a 30-day medical internship with Army Medical Department Activities units based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. During this program Cadet Demko will have the opportunity to gain insight into Army medical facilities and exposure to leadership within the medical community. Cadet Demko is a biology major, who hopes to one day serve in the Army’s dental corps.

Cadets are selected for these programs based on their academic majors, grade point average, overall performance in Army ROTC and the recommendation of their cadre. These programs are extremely competitive and only a handful of cadets are selected each year to participate in these internships.
