Thanksgiving Closing for On-Campus Housing
Dining Information
The Fresh Food Company (third floor of the DeNaples Center) closes on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. and reopens on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 4:45 p.m. The first-floor food court closes on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. and reopens on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m.
All residents are required to complete the following closing procedures:
- Clean your room (i.e. remove trash/clean out personal refrigerators).
- Remove any items that may spoil over break (i.e. milk, bread, etc.).
- Close and lock all windows.
- Pull down and close blinds.
- Turn off all lights.
- Close and lock room door.
- Last person to leave, sign the "We're Outta Here" form and place on the outside of the bedroom or apartment door.

Work Study Position, Planning & Info Resources
The Planning and Information Resources Division will be hiring a work-study student who can work in the office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., including during the summer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, answering/following-up on phone calls/inquiries, directing/escorting visitors, mail sorting/distribution, filling, maintaining office supply inventory, refreshment tasks, photocopying, mailings, running errands, preparing/maintaining Excel spreadsheets, use of Microsoft Word, etc.
This position requires professionalism, confidentiality and the ability to work quietly without a great deal of supervision. It also requires good interpersonal skills as the person hired will be dealing with a variety of students, staff and faculty.

Nov. 14: Think Global, Act Local - Panel Discussion with Local Elected Officials & Student Leaders, including Scranton’s Mayor Chris Doherty, New Loyola Science Center, room 133, 7 p.m.

January 2012 Travel Course Offered
We will stay in two eco-tourism centers founded and managed by such indigenous women's co-ops, and we will work side-by-side the women on some projects. The course requires some fall pre-trip class meetings, some online course work, and two weeks of travel to Mexico in January 2012. This course counts as a Latin American Studies and a Women’s Studies elective, and it fulfills cultural diversity (D) credits as well as Social Science (S) credits. The cost will be approximately $1,600 per student, covering airfare, accommodations, workshops and performances plus 1 credit tuition ($846) for the three-credit course (University discounted rate).
The course is open to students in all majors; students must apply by completing an application. Applications can be picked up from Mary Rafter, LA/W/S secretary, in LSC, room 235, or emailing Dr. Meagher, chair of LA/W/S at meaghers1@scranton.edu. Dr. Meagher can also provide additional information and answer any questions that you may have.
