Changing Channels: The Next Generation of Television

In the Technology On Your Own Terms workshop "Changing Channels: The Next Generation of Television," presenter Jason Oakey from the Office of Instructional Technology will show us new options in home entertainment and media, from HDTV and BluRay to streaming video. We’ll talk about what consumers should look for when purchasing new television screens and introduce new streaming services like Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Apple TV.

The workshop will be Tuesday, Oct. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. in Weinberg Memorial Library, room 305. A light lunch will be provided during the discussion. All faculty and staff members are welcome, but seats are limited, so please register at www.scranton.edu/ctleregistration (under Technology On Your Own Terms).

Healthy Cooking Demonstration Set for Wednesday

Staff and faculty are welcome to attend a healthy cooking demonstration, presented by Jerry Bogdan of dining services, on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 12:05 to 12:45 p.m. or 1:05 to 1:45 p.m. The demonstration wll be held in the Moskovitz Theatre (room 401) of the DeNaples Center. You can earn 10 Wellness Participation Points. No reservation required. For more information, contact mascellic2@scranton.edu or ext. 4550.

Essential Training for New Staff

The Office of Equity and Diversity invites all staff hired within the last two years to attend essential Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Training sessions have been scheduled for the following dates:

Thursday, Oct. 13
Tuesday, Oct. 18
Tuesday, Nov. 15
Thursday, Nov. 17
Thursday, Dec. 1
Thursday, Dec. 8

All sessions are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. in Brennan Hall, room 500. A light lunch will be served. Managers are urged to remind their staff to schedule to attend. Separate sessions will be held for managers and supervisors. To schedule your session, email diversity@scranton.edu.
