Capture the Clouds

The mobile device market is being flooded by new computer, smartphone and tablet devices intended to keep you connected to your friends, family and files through various web apps and content clouds. Selecting the web apps and cloud services that best meet your needs for managing content across all of your devices can often be a daunting and frustrating task.

IT Services hopes to remove some of the confusion from the web app and cloud service selection process by introducing attendees of the Thursday, Sept. 29, IT Forum to various web apps and cloud services that can be accessed from PC and Macintosh computers as well as most iOS and Android devices.
Join us Sept. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Brennan Hall, room 509. Reservations are required. Reserve through the portal - University Links - IT Training and Events.

Grant Deadline Extended

The deadline to apply for Diversity Initiative Funding has been extended to Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, for fall programs. The spring program deadline remains Feb. 28, 2012. The University of Scranton values diversity as a critical part of its mission. It is the intention of the University administration and Board of Trustees to promote initiatives that energize the commitment to diversity, provide opportunity for international and inter-cultural engagement as well as expand opportunities for multicultural experiences for our community. This is embedded within the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan for The University of Scranton and captured in Magis (the pursuit of excellence), Cura Personalis (care for the whole person) and Rei Solicitudo (stewardship).

The Diversity Initiatives Fund is available to any campus group, department or individual that seeks to promote a greater understanding of diversity through inclusive pedagogies, educational opportunities, multicultural activities and community outreach programs. Students are encouraged to apply, however, they are required to have an employee sponsor (staff or faculty). All Diversity Initiatives Fund applicants are strongly encouraged to target one or more of the goals outlined in the guidelines provided with the application. Click here for application. Please submit completed applications or any questions to diversity@scranton.edu.

Blood Drive Today in the Long Center

Why give blood? You don’t need a special reason! You just need your own reason. Some of us give blood because we were asked by a friend. Some know that a family member or a friend might need blood some day. Some believe it is the right thing we do.

Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply. And you’ll feel good knowing you've helped change a life.

Join the American Red Cross in the lobby of the Long Center today, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by giving blood or volunteering.

For more information, contact Ellen Judge in the Community Outreach Office, DeNaples Center, room 205B, or call 570-941-7429.
