New University Calendar is Live Today

Summer Orientations Start This Week

The Summer Orientation sessions are scheduled for July 5-6, 7-8, 11-12 and 14-15. To view the most up-to-date schedule, please go to my.scranton.edu, then click on the Employee tab, then the Student Affairs square at top right column. The document contains four schedules: CAS, KSOM, PCPS and guests.

Fifth Floor Harper McGinnis Wing Closed

 For safety reasons, as of July 1, the fifth floor of the Harper McGinnis Wing (CTLE Area) is off limits while under construction During this time, you may use the fourth floor crossover located near the Diversity Office, which will lead you to the fourth floor Communication Wing. You can also use the elevator and stairwell located on Caitlin court to gain access to the Communication Wing.

Volunteer Organizations Needed for Volunteer & Service Fair

Do you know of a nonprofit organization that is in need of college-age volunteers? The Community Outreach Office is hosting its annual Volunteer and Service Fair on Tuesday Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the DeNaples Center's ballroom. Last year the fair was attended by more than 850 students looking for find a volunteer placement in the Scranton community.

Nonprofits can contact the Community Outreach Office at judgee2@scranton.edu to receive an invitation in August. Please be mindful of the University calendar when requesting volunteers.

Our students volunteers must work through a agency and may not go into private homes for safety and liability reasons.

The summer liturgy schedule, from May 31 to Aug. 27, is as follows:

Local Harvest Dinner Set for July 23

Buy Fresh Buy Local Northeast Region Chapter invites you and your family to the Local Harvest Dinner, a Buy Fresh Buy Local fundraiser featuring local foods, on Saturday, July 23, at Miller’s Orchards Farm Markets in Clarks Summit. A farm tour will be held at 5 p.m., and dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. The cost, includes farm tour, entertainment, dinner, and local vendors, is $20 for adults, $10 for child. Reservations are required by Friday, July 15. Call 570- 941-7588 to register.

Unity Festival at Nay Aug Park July 9
This multicultural celebration takes place in Nay Aug Park and demonstrates the rich diversity of people in the communities of Northeast Pennsylvania. The festival has a family-oriented atmosphere and attracts thousands of visitors and vendors from as far as New Jersey, New York and Ohio. To see what's planned for 2011, visit the Unity Festival website. The University’s Office of Community Relations, Office of Equity & Diversity, Office of Multicultural Affairs and Education for Justice Program has helped to sponsor the festival and the University will have an exhibit table, coordinated by the Office of Equity & Diversity.

Bhutanese Nepali Community of Scranton Cultural Program July 10
The Bhutanese Nepali Community of Scranton will present a fun-filled afternoon of cultural programs and a presentation on the journey from Bhutan to Scranton. The event will be held in the Scranton High School Auditorium from 2-5 p.m. Bhutanese/Nepali snacks will be served. For more information, email sbarakoti@hotmail.com.
