Library Awards Students for Research Projects
Rosemary
Shaver, a junior with a double major in history and political science who also
participates in The University of Scranton’s Honors Program, was selected as
the winner of the inaugural Weinberg Memorial Library Research Prize. The award
recognizes excellence in research projects that show significant knowledge of
the methods of research and the information gathering process, and use of

Sixteen Students Participate in Ad Competition
Sixteen University of Scranton seniors
participated in the American Advertising Federation’s National Student
Advertising Competition as part of a six-credit, two-semester course taught by
Communication Professor Stacy Smulowitz, Ph.D. candidate. More than 150 student
teams from colleges and universities across the country created and presented

Fifty-nine undergraduate students at The
University of Scranton have been included in the 2011 edition of “Who’s Who

Fifty-eight University of Scranton students were inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the national honor society for students in Jesuit colleges and universities, at a ceremony held recently on campus. On behalf of the Cadre and Cadets of the Military Science Department, we
would like to cordially invite you to join us Saturday, May 28, for our annual commissioning ceremony. The ceremony
will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Houlihan-McLean Center, located at
the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Mulberry Street. Please join us as we
commission 18 young men and women into the United States Army,

The event's guest speaker is U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Christopher Burne, who is also a 1980 graduate of Scranton. General Burne is the staff judge advocate, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va. As staff judge advocate, he is the principal legal adviser to the Commander Air Combat Command (ACC) and headquarters staff on all legal issues involving military justice, combat operations, civil litigation, environmental law, claims, international law and administrative law.

CTLE Relocated for Summer
The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) will be relocated during the summer months to St. Thomas 411, 413 and 413A. The tentative move-out day is May 26 or May 27, with a return to our current Harper-McGinnis, fifth floor location in mid-August. All of our services will be available during the summer.
