Royal Warrior Battalion Helps Local Yankees Honor America

On Friday, May 6, the Royal Warrior Army ROTC Battalion joined forces with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees baseball club to lead the presentation of the National Colors prior to the start of the Yankees' game against the Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston's Triple-A affiliate.
Led by the Cadet Battalion Command Sergeant Major Joshua Soto (pictured), the Royal Warrior Color Guard Detachment proudly displayed the National Colors behind the pitcher’s mound as local elementary school students performed the National Anthem. At the same time, more than 40 Cadets marched onto the field – led by Military Science Level IV Cadet Andrew Baker – as they proudly displayed a 30 by 40 foot American flag in centerfield.
After the pre-game activities more than 80 Cadets, Cadre, family members and friends of the Battalion stayed to watch the game as the Yankees easily beat the PawSox, 10-1. Planned and organized by Captain Erin Leach, the event served not only as an opportunity to support the local community, but also as a team building event where Cadets and Cadre could come together to socialize and celebrate the unit’s hard work over the course of the school year.
