Smt. Kalyani Lakshminarayana, a veena player, will present a special performance at The University of Scranton on Sunday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the DeNaples Center's theater.

Please join us for a unique musical performance by Smt. Kalyani Lakshminarayana from Andhra Pradesh in India on Sunday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the DeNaples Center's theater. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Emani Kalyani is the only veena player of our time and is considered “the heiress carrying forward the Emani legacy.” Being the daughter of the Maestro Kalyani, she closely followed the master from a very young age and gained popularity as the disciple of Emani Shankara Shastry.

Her music has been described as “bright, yet mellow.” She is noted for playing Swara Prastharas with clarity, creativity and precision. At a young age, she participated in the Youth Festival and performed in the presence of then Prime Minister Sri. Rajeev Gandhi. Smt. Kalyani has been extensively touring the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Russia.
