Royals Give Back
On Saturday, April 16, more than 400 alumni and students gathered in 10 different regions to perform various service projects as part of the Scranton Day of Service. While alumni in Washington, D.C., delivered food baskets to low income senior citizens, fellow Scranton graduates in the nearby Baltimore area prepared and delivered boxed lunches to the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen. Two separate service projects took place in Philadelphia, including painting and gardening at Project Rainbow and working with "Rebuilding Together" to restore property on 5000 Irving Street; and alumni in The Scranton Club of New England volunteered to greet and host guests of the annual POW Recognition Day ceremony.
Additional service projects included interior painting at the Catherine Sheridan Senior Center in Queens, N.Y.; restoring the trails at South Mountain Reservation in Essex County, N.J.; volunteering at St. Vincent dePaul's soup kitchen in Luzerne County, Pa.; and tree planting on Seventh Street in Allentown.
