“Invisible Disabilities: Out of Sight, Out of Mind” will be presented by Dr. Marian Farrell and Professor Betsey Moylan – faculty liaisons to the CTLE – on Tuesday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St. Thomas Hall, room 590.
When we see someone with a white cane or an individual in a wheelchair, we know these people have disabilities and may need assistance doing tasks we take for granted. But what happens when the disabilities are not visible? You can’t see that an individual has Dyslexia, for instance. How do you know whether the apparently rude behavior of one of your students is not simply a symptom for a more severe problem? Such students in your classes may have hidden disabilities. How do you deal with that? We hope to answer such questions and others you bring in this workshop. A light lunch will be provided.
