Library to Offer $500 Award
The Weinberg Memorial Library has created a new academic award, The Library Research Prize, for undergraduate University of Scranton students. It recognizes excellence in research projects that show evidence of significant knowledge in the methods of research and the information gathering process, and use of library resources, tools and services. All students in any discipline, who are completing a research project for a for credit course at The University are eligible to apply. If it is a group project, all students in the group must submit an application. The application includes a 500-700 word essay on the research methods and information gathering process, a final version of the assignment, a letter of faculty support, and a bibliography of sources consulted.
A panel composed of University of Scranton faculty and staff will judge entries on the evidence of the applicant's research strategy and personal learning as summarized in the description of the research project. Expectations for achievement will be commensurate with the applicant's class year and the requirements of the discipline.
A $500 award will be given to the selected student or group. If won by a group, then the award will be split equally among the group members.
