The Insider’s Guide to Smartphones Set for Feb. 16
In this "Technology On Your Own Terms" workshop, Kristen Yarmey, digital services librarian, and Diane Jachimowicz, technology services analyst, will discuss some of the technology behind smartphones like iPhones, Androids and Blackberries. We’ll talk about what terms like 3G, 4G, tethering, and jailbreaking mean in plain English, what sensors like accelerometers and compasses mean for average users, how operating systems like iOS and Android differ, and what phone features to look out for in 2011 and beyond.
A light lunch will be provided during the discussion. All faculty and staff members are welcome, but seats are limited, so please register at www.scranton.edu/ctleregistration (under Technology On Your Own Terms).

New ORSP Proposal Submission Deadline Policy
Currently, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) policy states that all completed proposal materials (NIH or otherwise) must be received by ORSP five (5) days prior to submission. In the past, we have been very lenient with this deadline. We are changing this deadline to three (3) days prior to submission, but will need to strictly enforce this rule to allow sufficient time to correct Grants.gov and eRA Commons errors/warnings prior to the deadlines. We are also happy to report that that the proposal activity on campus is increasing, and the new deadline will allow sufficient time for ORSP review, processing and submission of all proposals. If final grant proposal materials including proposal text, completed External Funding Project Approval (EFPA) Form, and prepared internal budget form are not received three (3) days prior to submission deadline, ORSP cannot guarantee timely submission.
To provide you with the best possible support, we strongly encourage anyone intending to submit a grant proposal to inform ORSP as early as possible in the proposal preparation process. Our awareness of impending submission deadlines will help us to better meet our goal of being your “Partners in Inquiry and Discovery.”
Any questions about the change in NIH submission policy or ORSP deadline changes should be directed to Dr. Tabbi Miller-Scandle, director of Research and Sponsored Programs, IMBM 207, x6353.
