Genre, History and Portrait Painter Featured in Gallery Exhibition

From humble beginnings in Honesdale, Pa., the artist Jennie Brownscombe (1850-1936) trained and worked to establish a successful career in New York City and abroad. Brownscombe’s work will be on display at the Hope Horn Gallery in The University of Scranton’s Hyland Hall from Friday, Feb. 4 to Friday, March 18. “Young Woman in Pink and Green,” an oil painting on canvas by Brownscombe, will be among the pieces on display.

Bishop John Rucyahana to Lecture On Campus Feb. 8

The Office of the President at The University of Scranton is honored to welcome Bishop John Rucyahana, the recently retired Anglican Bishop of Rwanda's Shyira diocese, next month. Since his retirement, Bishop John, founder of the Mustard Seed Project, has been called to serve as the president of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission.

The University of Scranton Weinberg Memorial Library is the new home for the Zaner-Bloser Penmanship Collection, which is one of the most extensive collections of American ornamental penmanship from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
