Senior Army Officer to Visit Scranton Campus

The Department of Military Science is proud to announce that on Friday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, Feb. 27, it will host Colonel Reese Turner, the U.S. Army Human Resources Command Division Chief for Maneuver, Fires and Effects. Colonel Turner is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and is currently stationed at Fort Knox, Ky.
During the past 23 years Colonel Turner has served in a wide variety of Army command and staff positions, including command of a Field Artillery Battery at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and command of a Field Artillery Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and has earned two Bronze Stars for his service in Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He currently supervises the career management of more than 50,000 commissioned officers both Active Duty and U.S. Army Reserve. Colonel Turner's office oversees everything from assignments, to professional education and promotions for officers in ranks of Second Lieutenant thru Lieutenant Colonel. He supervises a team of 10 Lieutenant Colonels, along with a support staff of more than 100 military and civilian personnel.
Colonel Turner will kick off his visit to Scranton by speaking to the campus community at a luncheon entitled “21st Century Leadership” on Friday, Feb. 25, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Collegiate Hall, Redington Hall. Later that afternoon Colonel Turner will conduct a "Leader Professional Development" seminar with Junior and Senior Cadets in the Military Science Program. The seminar will allow Cadets the opportunity to seek guidance and discuss career and professional development paths, assignments and career management. On Saturday evening, the Royal Warrior Battalion will conduct its annual Military Ball at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Scranton where Colonel Turner will serve as the guest speaker.
