Win a Kindle at the 80’s Dance Party Extravaganza

Attend the 80’s Dance Party Extravaganza wearing 80’s style and the Kindle could be yours! Dance away that end-of-semester stress, play some Pac-Man or Frogger, and win great prizes answering 80’s Trivia questions.

The free event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Byron Recreation Complex. To see the promotional poster, click here.

There will be several activities, including an Urban Beats performance, 80’s trivia team competition, Atari, Sega, & Nintendo, food, prizes and, of course, dancing!

Prizes awarded for best 80’s inspired hairstyle, footwear, and shoulder pads, jeans, Hammer or parachute pants, and best copy of an 80’s pop culture icon. Best overall 80’s outfit takes home the Kindle. Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to raid (with permission) your parents' closets and put together a totally rad 80’s outfit.

This event is sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, Student Affairs and Late Night Programming.

Be a Royal Nights Host

The Admissions Office needs hosts for the upcoming Royal Nights program. Royal Nights allows accepted high school seniors to experience life as a Scranton student, and get the feel of our campus community.

The Royal Nights students will arrive on a Sunday between 3 - 4:30 p.m. and participate in planned activities that evening. They will stay overnight with a student host, and on Monday, they will attend classes and depart late in the afternoon. We are looking for current students who live on campus to host the Royal Nights guests in their rooms. Hosts meet students when they arrive on Sunday afternoon, have the option to participate in the different activities that evening, provide sleeping space, and help the Royal Night students checkout on Monday afternoon.

Please consider this opportunity to show your Scranton pride. Plus, you will receive two free movie tickets for each weekend you host!

Royal Nights dates:

  • Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 - Monday, Feb. 14, 2011
  • Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 - Monday, Feb. 21, 2011
  • Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 - Monday, Feb. 28, 2011

Please sign up to be a host at: http://matrix.scranton.edu/admissions/royal-nights/royal-nights-host-form.shtml.
