Scranton Participates in Screening of 'Gasland'
The University of Scranton will join with colleges and universities across the United States in a national screening of the Sundance award-winning “Gasland,” a documentary exploring domestic natural gas drilling. A live webcast question and answer session with director Josh Fox will take place immediately following the film.
“Gasland” will be shown Wednesday, Dec. 1, beginning 8:30 p.m., in the fifth-floor Rose Room in Brennan Hall, Madison Avenue. Sponsored by The University of Scranton’s Sustainability Task Force, the film is presented free of charge and open to the public.
The documentary chronicles Fox’s cross-country quest to chronicle the impact of the Halliburton-developed process of hydrofracturing, more commonly known as “fracking,” in the United States. Fox and his production team reveal multiple health and environmental issues following “fracking.”
Santa One Stop Drop Sunday
Have too many Christmas decorations? Clothes that you've outgrown (sigh)? Housewares you can't use? School supplies collecting dust? Donate them to the Santa One Stop Drop!
On Sunday, Dec. 5, the Community Outreach Office and Student Government will be teaming together to collect donations before the holidays. All donations will be given to Friends of the Poor and Angels Attic at United Neighborhood Centers. These organizations give items away to people in our community that are need for free. All members of the University community are welcome to drop off their items in the DeNaples Center's fourth-floor lobby between 1-3 p.m. and enjoy some cocoa and cookies!

Players Present 'Tiny Alice' Dec. 2-5
The University Players present "Tiny Alice" by Edward Albee, directed by José Zayas, from Thursday, Dec. 2, through Sunday, Dec. 5.
Following the playwright's maxim that writers should ask questions rather than offer answers, "Tiny Alice" is a seldom performed work by the preeminent playwright of the United States, three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee ("Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," "The Goat"). Perhaps Albee's most challenging work, "Tiny Alice" promises to leave your mind churning as the Players unearth a lost gem.
NOTE: This production is for mature audiences.
Performance times: Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices: $8 General Admission; $5 students, faculty, staff, senior citizens
