YES is in Need of Student Leaders

Youth Employment Series (YES) is a grant-funded program created and coordinated by The University of Scranton’s Office of Career Services and Community Outreach Office. It is designed to provide 15 disadvantaged Scranton area youth with career decision making and job search assistance. Eight University of Scranton students, chosen as career mentors for this program, will have an opportunity to gain experience working with disadvantaged youth, develop their leadership skills, and learn more about career development.

Senior Holiday Party Set For Dec. 3

Attention members of the Class of 2011!

The USPB Senior Programmers will present the Senior Holiday Party on Friday, Dec. 3, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Scranton Cultural Center. The price is $20. Tickets will be on sale on first floor of DeNaples Center during the evening this week.

Only those students with senior class standing will be able to attend. Students must also be 21 years of age to attend. Don't forget to bring your Royal Car and state-issued ID.

Institutional Research Office Announces Donation

The Institutional Research Office recently administered the CIRP Freshman Survey to a random sample of freshmen, Class of 2014. As incentive to participate, we pledged a donation to Susan G. Komen For The Cure, which has been offered. We would like to thank all who have assisted in our efforts and the Class of 2014 for their participation! 

Evening of Reflection for Graduate Students

An evening of reflection for graduate students is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Campion Townhouse (concluding with 7 p.m. mass in Madonna della Strada Chapel). All graduate students are invited to take some time to reflect, pray and connect with other graduate students.

Free dinner will be included. Visit University Ministries (located on the second floor of the DeNaples Center) or e-mail Amy Hoegen at hoegena2@scranton.edu to make your reservation. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Resident Assistant/Community Assistant Info Session

Are you interested in helping The University of Scranton experience for fellow students? 

If you are and would like to learn more about the constructive world of a resident assistant, please stop by an information session scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the DeNaples Center, room 406, at 5:04 p.m.

The session will take roughly an hour with questions and offer a great opportunity to get started in the process.

If you are unable to attend a session, look for more information on the Resident Life website in the coming week on how to download and submit an application.

Thanksgiving Break Residence Hall Closing Information

On-campus houses, apartments and residence halls will close on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at noon for Thanksgiving break. On-campus housing will re-open on Sunday, Nov. 28, at moon.

Dining Information
The Fresh Food Company (third floor of the DeNaples Center) will close on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. and re-open Sunday, Nov. 28, at 4:45 p.m. The first-floor food court will close on Wednesday, Nov. 24,  at 2 p.m. and will open on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 4 p.m.

All residents are required to complete the following closing procedures:

  • Clean your room (i.e. remove trash/clean out personal refrigerators).
  • Remove any items that may spoil over break (i.e. milk, bread, etc.).
  • Close and lock all windows.
  • Pull down and close blinds.
  • Turn off all lights.*Close and lock room door.
  • Last person to leave, sign the "We're Outta Here" form and place on the outside of the door.

Residents are not permitted to stay on campus during the Thanksgiving break. Graduate students living in Graduate Housing in Herold House and Dorothy Day Apts. are not required to leave for the break. For more information, contact res-life@scranton.edu.

Hello Home! Workshop Scheduled Dec. 3

If you are an international student or a returning study abroad student, "Hello Home!" workshop is for you! This workshop, scheduled Friday, Dec. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., will assist you with integrating your experience in the United States or abroad, with life in your own country. Summer Study Abroad in Florence, Italy

Drs. Virginia Picchietti and Marzia Caporale of the Department of World Languages and Cultures are happy to announce the Summer Study Abroad in Florence, Italy. This academic program will run from May 28 to June 25, 2011. Students will enroll in courses and live in Florence for the duration of the program. The program will also include day trips to other exciting Italian destinations.  An informational meeting will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., in O'Hara Hall, room 306. All students interested in participating, including those who desire additional information, are encouraged to attend. Participants must be in good standing at The University of Scranton. Bring-it! Spiritual Exercising for Men

All male students are invited to Bring-it!, sponsored by the Office of University Ministries, every Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. Wear exercise gear – we go rain or shine!
