Army Nurse Corps Association Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) was founded as the Retired Army Nurse Corps Association in 1997. Membership is comprised of Army Nurse Corps officers from the Active Army, Army National Guard, or the Army Reserve. They may be currently serving, retired or honorably discharged from one of these components of the US Army. One of the Association’s major programs is the Scholarship Program. The purpose of the Army Nurse Corps Association Memorial Scholarship Program is to award scholarships to students attending accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia programs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nursing or anesthesia students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program nor funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Nursing or anesthesia students who have previously served in a component of the US Army.
  • Army Nurse Corps officers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate or graduate nursing or nurse anesthesia program not funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Army enlisted soldiers in a component of the US Army enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program nor funded by a component of the US Army.
  • Nursing or anesthesia students whose parent(s), spouse and/or children are or have served in a component of the US Army.

General Information

In 2011, ANCA scholarships are $3,000 per selected applicant. All applications are due by April 1, 2011, and will be reviewed by the ANCA Education Committee. Selected students and their school will be notified within a few weeks. Scholarship funds are sent to the school on behalf of the student and not sent directly to the student. Prior arrangements will be made with the student and the school to ensure that the funds are available to the student. The application process requires close collaboration between the student and the school.

The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Therefore there is not a military service obligation for the student receiving this scholarship.  Scholarship ROTC students and students receiving GI Bill education benefits are not eligible.
