The Office of Equity and Diversity invites you to attend a special presentation from Dr. Antonio Flores, president of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), on campus Thursday, Nov. 4.

Antonio R. Flores, Ph.D. became the third president and chief executive officer of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in 1996. Established in December 1986 with 18 founding members, HACU is a national organization that represents more than 450 colleges and universities that collectively serve two-thirds of the more than 2 million Hispanic students in U.S. higher education across 32 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico . HACU’s international membership of leading higher education institutions is also an important HACU constituency.

Dr. Flores is responsible for the overall leadership, executive management, public and community relations, policy formulation and advocacy, association governance affairs, advancement planning, financial and investment oversight, human resources policies, strategic planning, and programmatic accountability and reporting. These interrelated and complex responsibilities are carried out with the collaborative teamwork of 50 dedicated professional staff at HACU headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and offices in Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, Calif.

His keynote presentation will center around the societal paradoxes created by a fast growing Hispanic population in the United States. It will be featured as part  of Diversity Fair III on Nov. 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the fourth-floor DeNaples Center Theater. This is a free event and open to the public.
