Institutional Research Office Administering Survey to Freshmen
The Institutional Research Office is administering the CIRP Freshman Survey this fall to beginning college freshmen. The survey will be administered via the web from Wednesday, Sept. 15, through Friday, Oct. 8. The Freshman Survey aims to assess what incoming freshmen expect from their college experience. It also measures student demographics and asks students about their high school experience. Students are offered an incentive to participate of $1 per completed survey to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in the name of The University of Scranton, Class of 2014. International Service Program Schedules Information Sessions
The International Service Program (ISP) information sessions will be held on the following dates:
- Friday, Sept. 17, 3 p.m., Brennan Hall, room 509
- Sunday, Sept. 19, 8:15 p.m., DeNaples Center, room 405
- Tuesday, Sept. 21, 11:30 a.m., DeNaples Center, room 407C
- Wednesday, Sept. 22, 8:30 p.m., Brennan Hall, room 509

Please join us for a reading by poet Martha Serpas on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the DeNaples Center, room 405, and a viewing of the documentary "Veins in the Gulf" with Serpas as narrator and filmmakers Ted Hardin and Elizabeth Coffman on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Moskovitz Theater. At both events University Ministries will organize a fundraising drive for LA Gulf Response, a consortium of non-profit andgovernmental organizations working to restore coastal Louisiana. Come join the IEEE Club for a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 16, from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m., in St. Thomas Hall, room 292. The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a club that provides students with the opportunity not only to participate in a campus wide event in the form of an IEEE seminar series (presentations by distinguished scientists, community business leaders, as well as our alumni and various employers/prospective job companies), but also as a time and place to pursue the club agenda, professional development and networking. In conjunction with Late-Nite-Programming (LNP), the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) proudly presents "Our Family Wedding," a film about how an African-American & Mexican-American family adjust after an engagement. Drs. Virginia Picchietti and Marzia Caporale of the Department of World Languages and Cultures are happy to announce the fourth annual Summer Study Abroad in Florence, Italy. This academic program will run from May 28 to June 25, 2011. Students will enroll in courses and live in Florence for the duration of the program. The program will also include day trips to other exciting Italian destinations. Students must be in good standing at The University of Scranton. Those interested are invited to attend either one of the first informational meetings, to be held on Friday, Oct. 1, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in O'Hara 306 and Monday, Oct. 4, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the DeNaples Center 407A (McIlhenney Ballroom).
