9th Annual Northeastern U.S. Conference on DisABILITY Scheduled Oct. 6

The Honorable Lynnae M. Ruttledge, commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, U.S. Department of Education, heads the list of keynote speakers at The University of Scranton’s ninth annual Northeastern U.S. Conference on disAbility on Wednesday, Oct. 6, which will review and celebrate the accomplishments of the ADA after 20 years.

Weinberg Memorial Library Exhibit Honors Fighter for Human Rights

The University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library will host an international traveling exhibit that profiles one of South Africa’s most vociferous and energetic opponents of apartheid. The “Helen Suzman: Fighter for Human Rights” exhibit will be on display in the fifth-floor Heritage Room from Aug. 31 to Oct. 25.

Foreign Affairs on the Menu for Scranton’s Luncheon Series

Area residents will be enlightened during their lunchtime through a program offered by the Schemel Forum at The University of Scranton. The Luncheon Seminar Series: World Affairs Briefings, will be held throughout the fall semester. The briefings will allow participants to explore topics ranging from America’s cultural diplomacy and a woman’s perspective of Afghanistan to the key things we need to know about China and a mid-term assessment of President Obama’s counterterrorism strategy.
