IEEE Club Hosts Sept. 9 Event
Come join the IEEE Club for a meeting Thursday, Sept. 9, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Hall, room 292. Students will present their research and intern experiences in industry over the past summer. Experiences include Lockheed Martin, Tobyhanna and ASEC internships, and a Cornell University research position, to name a few. Free pizza and soda will be provided. Everyone is welcome!
The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a club that provides students with the opportunity not only to participate in a campus-wide event in the form of an IEEE seminar series (presentations by distinguished scientists, community business leaders, as well as our alumni and various employers/prospective job companies), but also as a time and place to pursue the club agenda, professional development and networking. Information Sessions Scheduled Discussing New University Police Force
The University of Scranton Student Government, under the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee, presents Scranton Safety Talks with University Police and the Office of Student Conduct. Information sessions are being held to inform students about the new University Police Force and to inform the student body of the student conduct policies of The University of Scranton. If you have questions about on or off-campus incidents, your safety or violations of the student conduct policies, Chief Don Bergmann (University Police) and Lauren Rivera (Director of Student Conduct) will be on hand to answer questions.
Information sessions are:
Sophomore students: Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Collegiate Hall
- Condron Students – 7-7:30 p.m.
- Gavigan Students – 7:30-8 p.m.
- Redington Students – 8-8:30 p.m.
Upperclassmen (On- & off-campus students, commuters): Wednesday, Sept. 8 at the DeNaples Center's Moskovitz Theater (fourth floor)
Interested in studying in Germany?
Interested in studying in Germany during the academic year or the summer term? Join returning students to hear about their experiences and suggestions on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in O'Hara 322. Light refreshments will be provided. Summer Study Abroad in Florence, Italy
Drs. Virginia Picchietti and Marzia Caporale of the Department of World Languages and Cultures are happy to announce the fourth annual Summer Study Abroad in Florence, Italy. This academic program will run from May 28 to June 25, 2011. Students will enroll in courses and live in Florence for the duration of the program. The program will also include day trips to other exciting Italian destinations. Students must be in good standing at The University of Scranton. Those interested are invited to attend either one of the first informational meetings, to be held on Friday, Oct. 1, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in O'Hara 306 and Monday, Oct. 4, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the DeNaples Center 407A (McIlhenney Ballroom). Dean of Students Posts Drop-in Hours
Dean of Students Anitra McShea will hold drop-in office hours in the DeNaples Center 201 on the following dates and times. She invites all students to talk with her about any issues, concerns or successes. She will speak with students on a first-come, first-served basis. Dean McShea will be available from 1 – 3 p.m. Fridays on the following dates:
Sept. 10, 17, 24; Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29; Nov. 5, 12, 19; and Dec. 3 and 10.
