Technology on Your Own Terms Series Continues April 28

The Weinberg Memorial Library and the CTLE are continuing the Technology on Your Own Terms series with a hands-on technological training scheduled Wednesday, April 28, from noon to 1 p.m. in Weinberg Memorial Library, room 306.

The training is titled “Wiki Wiki WHAT!? – What you need to know to understand, create, and maintain Wikis.”

In short, a Wiki is a webpage where all of the code and underlying framework is already in place, out of sight and out of mind. In this session, you will learn what exactly a Wiki is and how to use a Wiki to quickly and easily create a dynamic webpage, collaborate on projects, or just share personal content over the internet. You will learn how to set-up a free wiki account, and how you can hit the ground running by adding content and organizing your new Wiki.

All faculty and staff members are welcome, but seats are limited, so please register for sessions at www.scranton.edu/ctleregistration (under Special Events).

Seeking Volunteers for President’s Breakfast

It’s that time of year again! The Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW) and Dining Services will be sponsoring the 11th Annual President’s Breakfast! This year’s President’s Breakfast is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, from 9 to 11 p.m. in Fresh Food Company located on the third floor of the DeNaples Center. This popular and widely anticipated event is designed to support our students as they prepare for final exams, and serves as a great opportunity for faculty and staff to encourage and interact with them during the final days of the semester.

Last year’s event was a great success with the volunteers providing more than 1,100 students with a healthy break during finals week. We are once again asking for your generous support in staffing this worthwhile event. To ensure the success of this University Tradition, we are asking for your assistance in any of the following areas:

  1.  Greeters
  2.  Grill #1
  3.  Grill #2
  4.  Brick Oven
  5.  Round Grill
  6.  Cleaners
  7.  Coffee

We realize that finals week is a hectic time for everyone, but hope that you will be able to join us at some point during the event to work a 90-minute shift. Please know that your assistance and show of support is greatly appreciated by all, especially the students. If you would like to volunteer, please respond to Barbara Eagen at eagenb1@scranton.edu or contact CHEW at 941-4253 by Friday, April 30. Please indicate which area you would like to work and the time that you are available.

The time slots are as follows:  8:30 to 10 p.m. and 10 to 11:30 p.m.

Thank you for your interest and support of our students!
