What Does Faith Have to Say About Money?
Catholic Studies will present a lecture titled “What Does Faith Have to Say About Money? Reflections on Economics from the Catholic Tradition” by Thomas Storck on Wednesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Brennan Hall, room 509.
Mini Weight Watchers at Work Session
Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend a four-week session of Weight Watchers during the month of May for $40. The sessions are scheduled Thursdays, from noon to 12:45 p.m., in the DeNaples Center, room 406. The session runs May 6 through May 27.

‘The Real Dirt on Farmer John’ Presented May 7

An Evening of Locally Produced Short Films
The Community Film Project, in association with the Graduate and Continuing education Student Organization at The University of Scranton, will present an evening of locally produced short films Saturday, April 24, at the DeNaples Center. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the program begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the general public (donations for the Leahy Clinic will be accepted). Following the event there will be a discussion with several of the film producers and actors.
Ranging from comedy to action to suspense, all of the evening’s short films have been produced in Northeast Pennsylvania, utilizing local talent both in front of and behind the camera by CFP members.
The evening will also feature the local premier of two new shorts: the Civil War drama “Antietam Creek” and the comedy “Born Pumped,” which won both the Film of the Year Fans' Choice and the Film of the year Judges' Choice awards at the Roslyn Film Festival outside of Philadelphia last month.
The Community Film Project is a regional arts initiative designed to help independent filmmakers network resources and promote their finished projects. The Community Film Project members share a love for movies, a passion for creative expression, and a vested interest in producing opportunities within our own community. The CFP was founded in 2004 to harness these passions, to bring these talents and resources together.

The University of Scranton Players present Flora the Red Menace, a musical comedy by the musical team of Kander and Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret) and a book by David Thompson.
The musical opens Friday, April 23, with encore performances scheduled Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25. The musical continues the following weekend with shows slated for Friday, April 30, Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances begin at 2 p.m.

Annual President's Breakfast Scheduled May 18
Join The Center for Health Education and Wellness and Dining Services for the 11th annual President’s Breakfast Tuesday, May 18, from 9 to 11 p.m. on the third and fourth floors of the DeNaples Center. The annual event will include free breakfast, meditation, massages and arts and crafts.
Relax during finals week as your faculty and staff serve you breakfast. Prizes will be awarded to the first 1,000 students.

Final H1N1 Influenza Immunization Clinic April 26
A final H1N1 Influenza Immunization Clinic will be held on Monday, April 26, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the fourth floor of the DeNaples Center, Ballroom A. Students, faculty and staff are welcome. There is no charge, but a Royal Card ID is required.
Weinberg Memorial Library Book Sale April 24 & 25
The University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library will hold its annual Book and Plant Sale on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Sunday, April 25, from noon until 4 p.m. The sale will take place in the Scranton Heritage Room on the fifth floor of the Weinberg Memorial Library. Book prices begin at $1. Flowering plants and tag sale items will also be sold.
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library Endowment, which supports library collections and services. A special preview sale will be held on Friday, April 23, for Friends’ members and Schemel Forum members.
The library will accept donations of all titles of used hardcover and paperback books, including children’s books, cookbooks, fiction and non-fiction until Wednesday, April 21. In addition, the library is collecting videos, compact discs, audiocassettes, records and tag sale items.
Donations may be placed in the boxes on the Monroe Avenue side of the library.

Earth Day 2010 Events Scheduled
This year is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the University of Scranton and Scranton Tomorrow are celebrating together with a number of educational and fun events.
Earth Week 2010 started with the annual Street Sweep on April 17 and Rhode Island rockers Monty Are I performing a free concert April 19. at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 20, there will be an Education for Justice Teach-In addressing this year’s justice theme, Food. The teach-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. in TDC 406 and will conclude with a showing of the Academy Award-nominated documentary, “Food, Inc.” Also on Tuesday, April 20, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., the second annual Earth Fair will take place on the TDC patio.
On Wednesday, April 21, Don Winkelmann, Ph.D., a specialist in agricultural development will deliver this year’s Earth Day keynote address in the Pearn Auditorium of Brennan Hall starting at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, April 22, the University and Scranton Tomorrow will celebrate Earth Day with prizes, entertainment and special discounts at downtown businesses. The downtown walk will begin at 4:30 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 in the Center Court of The Mall at Steamtown with prize drawings.
Also on April 22, University of Scranton performance groups Men and Women for Octaves, Urban Beats, and Liva Arts Company will be performing at The Mall at Steamtown from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Fair Trade Club will be hosting its annual Fair Trade Fair Friday, April 23, starting at 1 p.m. on the Dionne Campus Green. Downtown Scranton businesses have donated more than $1,600 in prizes and gift certificates. Prize giveaways will occur during the concert, at the close of the Earth Fair, at the close of “Food, Inc.”, at the close of Dr. Winkelmann’s lecture, and at The Mall at Steamtown Thursday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m.

Tenth Annual Celebration of Student Scholars April 27
The University of Scranton will host its “Tenth Annual Celebration of Student Scholars” Tuesday, April 27, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. This event will celebrate both undergraduate and graduate student scholars by featuring their work through either a physical display of posters or oral presentations. The poster display will be held in Brennan Hall 509 with oral presentations nearby.

Student scholarly work includes thesis research (e.g. for a graduate degree, for the honor’s program), research conducted as part of the FSRP, or resulting from a President's Fellowship for Summer Research, and undergraduate or graduate research or other scholarly projects carried out as independent study.

CAC/NEPA Annual Moonlight 5K Walk/Run April 25
Be sure to come out and join the Children’s Advocacy Center for its annual fundraiser, Moonlight 5K Walk/Run, at Nay Aug Park on Sunday, April 25. The walk will start at 6:30 p.m. and the run will follow at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit child victims of physical and sexual abuse and neglect.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA provides medical assessments and child forensic interviews for victims of sexual and physical abuse and neglect. The Center coordinates a multidisciplinary team response to child abuse and neglect in Lackawanna and surrounding counties. The Center also provides child abuse prevention education to professionals and the communities served. The CAC, a 501©3, provides 24/7 coverage and consultation with District Attorneys, Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services and Trauma Counselors.
