Commemorating the 20-Year Anniversary of the Jesuit Martyrs of El Salvador
Rev. Rodolfo Cardenal, former vice rector of the University of Central America, will discuss the legacy of the six Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador, who along with their housekeeper and fifteen year-old daughter were murdered in November of 1989 during their country's civil war. Fr. Cardenal will speak to the University Community about how their deaths shaped the lives of those in El Salvador and beyond on Wednesday, October 28 at 12pm in Houlihan-McLean. An informal luncheon will follow the talk.

Mass of Remembrance

Please join us as we remember in prayer the deceased family members, friends, and loved ones of the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Scranton.
As part of the Mass on November 5th, there will be a ritual reading of the names of those who have died since this time last year. If you have lost a loved one during the past year and would like their name included during the Mass, please contact University Ministries or e-mail devinot2@scranton.edu by Friday, October 30th.
Hunger in Scranton
Since the Education for Justice theme for this year is FOOD, we wish to raise awareness of those around the University who experience food insufficiency.
This round-table discussion will be an opportunity for members of the University community to interact with representatives from local agencies that serve the people of the Scranton area who are in need of food. Friends of the Poor, United Neighborhood Centers, and Catherine McAuley Center, among others, will participate.
The discussion will take place on Tuesday November 3, 2009 in DeNaples 405 from 11:30am to 12:45pm. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome. For more information contact justice-education@scranton.edu
