Alpha Sigma Nu Lecture on Human Trafficking
Sr. Anne Munley, IHM, Ph.D. will deliver the fifth annual Alpha Sigma Nu Alumni Club lecture on “Understanding and Counteracting the Scourge of Human Trafficking” on Saturday, November 7, 2009, 5:00 PM in Pearn Auditorium (Room 228) Brennan Hall. Sr. Anne Munley is the President of Marywood University, former Executive Director of the African Sisters Education Collaborative, and co-author of a recent book on human trafficking.
Sometimes described as today’s human slave trade, human trafficking is reported to be the fastest growing criminal activity in the world. The majority of transnational victims are women and girls, with most trafficked into commercial sexual exploitation. The lecture is free and open to the public. Alpha Sigma Nu is the National Jesuit Honor Society.
The lecture is co-sponsored by the University’s Alpha Sigma Nu Student Chapter, Justice Club, Jane Kopas Women’s Center, and Peace and Justice Studies Program.
