Service Trips
The Center for Service & Social Justice coordinates service trips over Fall, January & Spring break for our undergraduate students.
Information sessions are held in October, noting the trip assignments, type of work, housing and costs. Applications are available after the information sessions. A limited number of spots are available on each trip and spots are awarded by lottery. Deposits are non-refundable. Each trip has a University of Scranton faculty, staff or graduate student chaperon. Transportation varies between driving in mini vans and flying. Accommodations are generally simple living, making and sharing meals and staying in cabins or host apartments. Students going on service trips should be flexible on housing accommodations, transportation and meals.
Many of our trips follow our recent graduates who are doing a year of service in their chosen field.
Faculty, Staff and Graduate Assistants interested in chaperoning a break trip should contact Lori Moran, at lori@moran@scranton.edu, DeNaples 205D at 570-941-7429. Chaperons will be responsible for driving students, leading reflections, hosting pre and post meetings with groups, keeping close contacts with sites and handling trip finances. They should also be prepared to work with the group during the trip.
