Each year, the Alumni Board authorizes the presentation of awards to distinguished alumni who have exhibited sustained achievement in a particular field or endeavor. The Frank O'Hara Awards are the highest awards bestowed jointly by the University and the Alumni Society. Awards are presented during Alumni Reunion Weekend and presented in the following categories: Arts & Letters; Science and Technology; Management; Law; Medicine; Education; Public/Government Service; and University Service. The awards are not arbitrarily decided; each category does not necessarily have to be awarded each year and recipients need not be chosen exclusively from the milestone classes.
