Russell Sturgis was commissioned by Joseph H. Scranton to design this three story building. (The house was owned by the following in this order: Joseph, William, Katherine, and Worthington - the last person did not actually live in the house). This building was constructed from 1867 to 1871 in French Second Empire Style for $150,000. First the building was used as a residence for those Jesuits working at the University of Scranton. Presently the Estate houses the University's Admissions Office.
