Occupational Therapy Research Guide

CINAHL with Full Text

Full text for nearly 600 of the 2,950 journals indexed dating back to 1981. CINAHL covers nursing, bio, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Offers complete coverage of English language nursing journals and publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association. In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters.

The Cochrane  Library

Provides full text access to information compiled by the Cochrane Collaboration, an international network of individuals and institutions committed to reviewing the best evidence from clinical trials in medicine. Coverage is from 1991 to present. Updated monthly

ERIC (EBSCO)

An Educational Resource Information Center provides access to education literature and resources from journals indexed in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. The database contains more than 1,243,000 records and links to more than 224,000 full-text documents from ERIC.  

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (EBSCO)

Health Source®: Nursing/Academic Edition provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Coverage of nursing and allied health is particularly strong, including full text from multiple nursing journals. In addition, this database includes the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

HighWire Press

HighWire Press partners with independent scholarly publishers, societies, associations, and university presses to facilitate the digital dissemination of 1330 journals, reference works, books, and proceedings.

IEEE Electronic Library (IEL)

Provides full text access to IEEE transactions, journals, magazines, and conference proceedings published since 1988, plus select content back to 1950 and all current IEEE standards.

Informaworld (Taylor & Francis Online

InformaWorld hosts journals, eBooks, abstract databases and reference works published by the Taylor & Francis group, Routledge, Psychology Press and Informa Healthcare.

Ingenta

Ingenta is a document delivery service and comprehensive index to over 23,000 scholarly scientific and technical journals. Several options allow you to set up an alerting service or deposit account for ordering articles sent to your desktop. The copyright and service fee is quite pricey, but the database is handy for verifying citations.

JAMA

JAMA, published continuously since 1883, is an international peer-reviewed General Medical Journal published 48 times per year. JAMA is the most widely circulated medical journal in the world.

JSTOR (Full Text)

Provides full text access for scholarly journals in the areas of African-American studies, anthropology, Asian studies, ecology, economics, education, finance, history, literature, mathematics, philosophy, political science, and sociology. The Life Science Collection is also available. This database covers a complete journal run from the first issue up to the most recent three to five years.

Lexis-Nexis

Provides access to journals, magazines, and newspapers in full text format. The subject areas covered are news, business, law, health, and reference. This database is updated daily, and sources can be searched for the last five or ten years, and in some cases back 30 plus years to provide bibliographic records. This database contains over 5200 sources.

MEDLINE (FirstSearch-Full Text)

Corresponds to the print edition of Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International Nursing Literature. Over 9,580 journals are indexed, beginning in 1965. The First Search version allows you to link your search results to the Weinberg Library holdings

MEDLINE/PubMed (Free to everyone)

MEDLINE is the largest component of PubMed, the freely accessible online database of biomedical journal citations and abstracts created by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM®). Approximately 5,400 journals published in the United States and more than 80 other countries have been selected and are currently indexed for MEDLINE. MEDSCAPE (Free with registration)

Access to Medscape is FREE, but requires a one-time membership registration. Medscape is organized by medical specialty, with each supported specialty having its own custom Web Site. Medscape's content comes from an assortment of sources including: clinical eJournals, more than 50 medical journals and textbooks, professional medical news from Reuters, MedscapeWire, and medical news journal publishers, business and finance publishers, managed care and medical practice publishers, and more. This internet site is updated daily, and contains links to MEDLINE as well as other web-based medical sites.

Mental Measurements Yearbook (Full Text)

Mental Measurements Yearbook, produced by the Buros Institute, contains full text information about and reviews of all English language standardized tests covering educational skills, personality, vocational aptitude, psychology, and related areas. Includes information covered in the print version of this publication.

Nursing@Ovid

Nursing@Ovid is a comprehensive, integrated Nursing & Allied Health portal that features bibliographic data that’s central to the working needs of nursing and allied health professionals as well as full-text access to highly-cited nursing and allied health journals. Years of coverage range from 1950 to present.

OT Search

OT Search, the American Occupational Therapy foundation database, indexes monographs, proceedings, reports, masters' theses, doctoral dissertations and articles from journals and newsletters for occupational therapy and related fields. The database is not fulltext. Indexing is retrospective to 1911.

PEDro

PEDro: the Physiotherapy Evidence Database provides bibliographic citations and abstracts of randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews in the area of physiotherapy. PEDro is an initiative of the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy (CEBP).

ProQuest Central

ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated full-text database in the market today totaling more than 11,250 titles—with over 8,400 titles in full text. It serves as the central resource for researchers at all levels in all markets.

ProQuest Health and Medical Complete

ProQuest Health and Medical Complete™ combines clinical research titles with hundreds of additional consumer and health administration titles. Also provides in-depth coverage from over 1,440 publications with nearly 1,200 available in full text and of these, over 970 include MEDLINE® indexing. In addition, the database includes all charts, diagrams, graphs, tables, photos, and other graphical elements essential to medical research.

ProQuest Research Library

From business and political science to literature and psychology, ProQuest Research Library™ provides one-stop access to a wide range of popular academic subjects. The database includes more than 3,950 titles—over 2,700 in full text—from 1971 forward. It features a highly-respected, diversified mix of scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, and newspapers. ProQuest Research Library consists of two components: a core list of periodicals; plus 15 supplemental subject-specific modules.

PsycINFO (EBSCO)

Provides citations with abstracts from more than 1,300 international journals plus books and book chapters containing the literature of psychology and the behavioral sciences. Information dates from 1887 to the present.

SAGE Journals Online

Fulltext access to over 460 journals in business, humanities, social sciences, science, technology and caregivers. The Guide covers diseases, disorders, treatments, procedures, specialties, anatomy, biology, and issues in an A-Z format, with sidebars addressing recent developments in medicine and concise information boxes for all diseases and disorders.

Science Direct

Includes the full text of 175 Academic Press journals. Its aim is to improve access to scientific journals starting with the complete 1996 issues. Over 2000 articles are added monthly. Subject areas covered in this database are applied sciences, social sciences, dentistry,  nursing, economics, business law and finance.

SpringerLink

SpringerLink is an integrated full-text database for journals and books published by Springer. SpringerLink currently offers over 1,800 fully peer-reviewed journals and indexing for more than 25,000 books online. To restrict your search to resources to which the Library has access, chose “Library Subscribes.”

Wiley Online Library

Indexes 1,000 journals, major reference works, online books, laboratory manuals and management resources. Fulltext of articles is available only for those journals to which the library subscribes. Indexing is interdisciplinary. Users may search all disciplines or select: business, life sciences, chemistry, mathematics and statistics, computer science, earth and environmental science, physics, astronomy, education, polymers and material science, engineering, psychology, law, and social sciences.
