Affirmative Action

Definition of Affirmative Action

Affirmative Action is positive actions or activities to undo the present affects of past discrimination. It is proactive and aggressive step through outreach and support of community action programs to develop efforts that consider women and minorities currently not in the workforce.

An Affirmative Action program is a set of specific and result-oriented procedures to which a contractor commits itself to apply every good faith effort. The objective of those procedures plus such efforts is equal employment opportunity. (Title 41, 60-2.10 CFR)
