Peter C. Olden, PhD, MHA
Bio
Peter C. Olden earned an MHA at Duke University in the 1970s and worked as a hospital executive for fourteen years at a community hospital, teaching hospital, and regional medical center. In the 1990s, he earned a PhD in Health Services Organization & Research at Virginia Commonwealth University and began his academic career at The University of Scranton. Pete is currently a Professor of Health Administration at The University of Scranton (PA). For eleven years he directed the Graduate Health Administration Program there. He has taught courses on health care management, strategic planning, economics, marketing, human resources, and the US health care system. His scholarship pertains mostly to managing health care organizations and preventative health. Dr. Olden has served on editorial boards and published in journals including Milbank Quarterly, Health Services Research, Journal of Healthcare Management, Health Care Management Review, and Journal of Health Administration Education. He has presented at the Academy of Management, Association of University Programs in Health Administration, American Public Health Association, Academy Health, and in other countries. Pete is active in scholarly and professional associations and earned Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He contributes service to health organizations, especially the American Cancer Society, which he serves at the local, state, and national levels. Current and Past Research
