Also, I play intramural volleyball and was a leader for the 2012 Connections Retreat. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing sports, and listening to country music. I am greatly looking forward to working with students at the Writing Center!.
Laura Fay
I’m Laura, a member of the University Class of 2015. I’m majoring in English and Communication with a concentration in Journalism. I’m also a part of the SJLA program and take Spanish classes. When I’m not doing schoolwork, I love to read. I also love running, so I’m a member of the cross country team. I look forward to working in the writing center because I believe that everyone’s writing can improve with practice and conversation and I hope to meet new people and improve my own writing as well as that of my peers during my time there.
Joshua Jimenez

Corrine Nulton
Corinne is a junior English major at the University of Scranton with minors in Spanish and in Writing. She enjoys reading books, playing her saxophone, and writing fiction. She loves theater and when she is not working at the writing center, she helps the Scranton Players with their productions. She is also a member of the Honors program and the Sigma Tau Delta.
Katie Olives
Hi! My name is Katie Olives and I'm a junior English major with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I'm also part of the English Honors Society Sigma Tau Delta. In my spare time I love to read, watch SVU, hang out with friends, and play outside. In the future I would love to travel, especially to Thailand, Denmark, and the UK. I love meeting new people and enjoy helping fellow students here at the Writing Center. Can't wait to meet with you!
Mary Ann Smith
I’m Mary Ann Smith, a 6 year Writing Center veteran. My current major is Philosophy, which comes after my degrees in Environmental Science and Biochemistry. Hopefully this fall, I’ll be staying in Scranton to start my Masters in Theology. Though you can usually find me in the CTLE, I am sometimes wandering around campus before heading either to Madonna della Strada Chapel for Music Ministries rehearsals or to Houlihan-McLean (aka Boga’s) for Singers Rehearsal. When I’m not helping students with papers or chemistry it seems, I’m teaching a class for one of the local universities. If you are new to the University or returning to campus, then welcome and come by the Writing Center to set one an appt, meet with a consultant or just to get used to the facilities. I hope to see you soon and wish you the best with the semester.
Benjamin D. Turcea
Hi! My name's Ben, and I'm an International Studies major and a member of the class of 2015. I'm a part of the SJLA program, and I'm taking Arabic and Spanish classes. When I'm not studying or at the Writing Center, I enjoy reading, swimming, and playing volleyball. The Writing Center is going to be a great home for me; I've loved working with everyone so far, and I look forward to improving the writing community and the University.
Karen Waldeck
Karen Waldeck recently completed an undergraduate study of sacred texts of all kinds, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Scranton in Spring '09 with majors in English Literature and Theology. Karen now focuses her insatiable desire for education on graduate pursuits, working toward the teaching Masters here at da U. Like a cat or new age spiritualist Karen has had many lives. She formerly majored in Speech Communication and Rhetoric at SUNY Cortland and spent two decades as a Market Research Executive in Philadelphia. Outside the Writing Center Karen occupies herself as wife to the neuroscientist Dr. Robert Waldeck, mom to the remarkable Benjamin Waldeck and chief caretaker to two cats, two dogs and two surprisingly enjoyable rats. Inside the Writing Center such occupations rarely arise.
Bradley Wierbowski
I am a sophomore Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology and English double-major in the Honors Program. In my free time (when I can find it!), I enjoy reading, watching movies, doodling, and attempting to write short stories. Given the nature of my majors, I’m pretty familiar with the unique styles of both science writing and literary analysis; so whether you’re looking for help with your Microbiology lab report or with your paper in Restoration/18th Century Lit, feel free to stop by and set up an appointment!
