This past summer I interned at Software Engineering Associates Inc. (SEA), located in Archibald, PA. Much of SEA's work involves the design of custom software solutions and their major project over the summer, which I worked on, was their Hydro4GE system. Hydro4GE is a Platform as a Service which greatly simplifies the design of database web applications. My task involved the performance testing of this system, making sure that each possible operation not only completed successfully, but also in a reasonable amount of time. To accomplish this I designed an application which, utilizing Java's multi-threading capabilities, simulated a true production environment, complete with hundreds of concurrent users, and collected and analyzed timing statistics. The application then clearly displayed the results to the user in graphical form. My involvement in the Hydro4GE project is ongoing, as I am currently working for SEA over the Intersession.
