Safety Escorts

Walking Escorts
The Department of Public Safety offers walking escorts to all members of the University community. Escorts are available within the following geographic boundaries:
- North: Vine Street
- South: Ridge Row ( including the Poly Hi and Fitzpatrick parking lots)
- East: North Irving Street
- West: Jefferson Avenue
Medical Escorts
Medical escorts are available for members of the University community who have temporary medical conditions requiring transportation. If you require a medical escort, please contact Public Safety at 570-941-7888.
Medical escorts may be delayed due to emergent calls.

Escort Van
The Escort Van is a service provided by the Department of Public Safety on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9 P.M. to 3 A.M., while the University is in session. The Escort Van does not operate during breaks, between semesters, intersessions or during the summer.
The Escort Van follows a set route and stops at the following locations:
- Denaples Center at the ATM entrance.
- O'Hara Hall.
- Quincy Avenue and Vine Street.
- Liva House (intersection of Vine Street and North Webster Avenue.
- Katherine Drexel House
- Redington Hall
The Escort Van will only stop at the locations designated above. Reservations are not required for the Escort Van; simply wait at the nearest stop. In the event of inclimate weather, the Escort Van may be delayed or canceled. Check our web site for updated information.
All individuals using the Escort Van must display their Royal Card when boarding. The Department of Public Safety reserves the right to refuse service to individuals who are deemed disruptive by the driver(s). Alcohol and tobacco are not permitted on the Escort Van.
Smartride Schedule
The Smartride is a bus service operating between The University of Scranton and Marywood University with stops at malls, grocery stores, pharmacies and other locations. The bus operates when school is in session and a Royal Card is required to ride.

The Smartride bus is not affiliated with the Department of Public Safety and operates independently of the department.
