MEMORANDUM

11/03/10

TO:                  Members of the University Community
FROM:             Christopher M. “Kip” Condron
                        Chair, Board of Trustees
DATE:              Wednesday, November 3, 2010
RE:                   Update on the Presidential Search Process

Over the past several weeks, the members of the Search Committee sought and received input from alumni, students, faculty, and professional, clerical and maintenance staff.  During our recent meeting, we began the process of reviewing the hundreds of comments we received regarding the characteristics that you would like to see in the next president and the challenges that you believe our next president will face. We are working to synthesize these comments and will share a summary with the University community once it is complete.

My thanks to all who participated in this listening process and to your representatives on the Search Committee for completing their work so quickly and so well.

The search itself is progressing. We continue to seek first a qualified Jesuit to serve as president. In order to assist us with the logistics of this process, we have engaged the services of AGB Search, LLC, a nationally recognized search firm. AGB Search will also be helpful should it be necessary to extend the search to other candidates.

We will continue to share updates in the weeks ahead. Information about the search is also available at www.scranton.edu/presidentialsearch. The site can also be reached from a link on the University’s homepage.
